Common questions
Response Times and Booking
Do you work weekends?
Yes, weekend bookings are available for standard jobs across the Forest District. For a genuine electrical emergency we're reachable any day, any hour, not just business hours. Call (02) 9073 7836 and we'll check what's open for you.
How fast can you get here?
No fixed number, it hinges on the job itself and how full the day already is. We're usually working somewhere close by, so a licensed electrician doesn't tend to be far off. Call and we'll be upfront about the likely timing, not just a guess.
How soon can you fit me in?
Often same or next day for a standard booking, though it comes down to how full the diary already is that week. We'll never promise a slot we can't keep, we'd rather tell you straight and get it right.
How do I book?
Call (02) 9073 7836. A real person answers the phone, not a call centre, and we'll book you in for a time that suits. Give us the rundown and roughly when it works for you, and we'll lock it in on the spot.
Common questions
Pricing, Straight Up
How do quotes work?
Every quote starts with us assessing the job properly and running through what it needs in plain English. You get a fixed written quote before anything starts, no hourly rates, no surprises on the invoice, the price we quote is the price you pay.
Is the quote really free?
Yes, completely free, and there's no call-out fee attached to coming out and pricing the work properly. You only pay once you've agreed to the written price, nothing before that.
What does the $50 off your first service cover?
It's $50 off your first service with us, taken straight off the invoice for any standard electrical job. Just flag it when you get in touch or book online, no fine print attached.
How do I pay?
However suits you, most people tap their card once the work is finished and checked off. What's written on the quote is what lands on the invoice, nothing tacked on afterward unless you ask for extra work.
Common questions
Local to Frenchs Forest
How local are you, really?
We're on Warringah Road and across the Forest District most weeks, in and out of homes from Frenchs Forest to Belrose and Forestville. We're a mobile local team rather than a shopfront, and that's part of how we keep response times down.
Why do Frenchs Forest's older homes need switchboard upgrades?
A lot of the housing stock here went up through the 1960s to 1980s, and plenty of those switchboards still run on ceramic fuses instead of modern breakers. Ceramic fuses don't carry the safety switch (RCD) protection modern boards do, so an upgrade is often the safest fix, especially before a renovation adds load.
Do you know Frenchs Forest's housing stock?
Frenchs Forest grew mostly through the post-war 1960s to 1980s expansion of the Forest District, so brick veneer and fibro houses dominate, with newer townhouses going up more recently near the Northern Beaches Hospital rezone. We work across both, from original wiring to brand new builds.
Do you work on heritage/strata properties?
Frenchs Forest itself isn't a heritage-listed pocket, most of the stock is 1960s onward, but strata definitely comes up, especially the newer townhouses and units near the hospital precinct. We handle common-area and unit wiring on those jobs the same as any house.
Common questions
Safety, Standards and Paperwork
What brands do you install?
Beacon Lighting fittings, SAL exterior gear, and switchgear from Hager or Clipsal, all premium stock, not cheap imports that fail in a year or two. Got a preferred brand in mind for a renovation or new build? We can usually track it down.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
AS/NZS 3000 is the wiring rulebook that governs how Australian homes get wired safely, right down to cable sizes and how each circuit is protected. Every job we do is tested before we sign off, so it's not just a box-ticking exercise.
What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?
Let current leak somewhere it shouldn't, and a safety switch (RCD) trips the power almost instantly, well before a fault can turn into a shock or a fire. Plenty of older Frenchs Forest homes predate the mandatory rule and are missing one on every circuit, an easy, affordable fix.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, and we're fully insured on top of that. We're also a Master Electricians Australia member, which means our work gets checked against a higher bar than the licence alone requires.
